Carte Blanche... To Change!

Hey guys!

After a lot of consideration and discussion, we Creative Carte Blanche instigators have decided to shift the focus of our community from a challenge-based blog to our community Facebook group. We feel this is the best way to accomplish what we initially set out to do. We began Creative Carte Blanche with a very specific goal in mind: To create a community through which we encourage each other to explore our creative whims with a sense of freedom and spontaneity. While sharing monthly challenges has been a joy, we’ve come to realize that in a very real way it contradicts our mission. After all, “carte blanche” literally means “complete freedom to act as one wishes or thinks best,” not “make a project that fits within the parameters we give you.”

By making Creative Carte Blanche a social experience, we can all participate equally in the inspirational goodness. We can share whatever projects we’re working on, be they greeting cards or stained glass or cupcakes, and we can discuss our experiences, get advice and help each other through those inevitable creative blocks. We can be each other's fan club. How sweet is that?

And, in the interest of full disclosure, we on the CCB team have realized that our own methods of creative expression are evolving. While it’s safe to say that mixed media will always be a fundamental part of our artistic pursuits, we’re each branching out in ways that don’t always translate well to a challenge blog. Exploration is the natural progression of an artistic spirit, and as we investigate our callings, we want to encourage you to do the same.

So, if you haven’t already, please join our Facebook Community. It’s all about positivity, creativity, and yes— Carte Blanche!

We’ll see you there!

Wrapping it up!

Hello everyone!
First of all, let me apologize for not getting to each and every blog and commenting on your lovely art! I did check it out and all of you have and continue to blow me away with your creativity! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this diverse group and seeing so many different takes on a theme! It truly is inspiring and mind blowing to see how we all work so differently but have a love of this thing called
paper crafting!
Life has been a bit rough as of late, this year has been a challenge to say the least.
I know we all have our challenges and rough seas to navigate, but I also realize we are totally capable!   It might not feel like it at times, but it is doable.  I'm saying all this because I know there are others out there who are facing challenges as well.  Don't give up! Keep going. Keep pushing.
Take hold and understand that this to shall pass.  Sometimes we just need that reminder and mine came at the perfect time from a place I least expected it...so if I can pass on that one thing...that is a gift!  I keep coming back to this one sentiment....The mountain you are carrying wasn't meant for you to carry, it was meant for you to climb.  Climb it, learn and move on to the next...that's the way I am looking at it from now on, or at least trying to. Life is not perfect, but if it was it would really be quite boring.  We go through these things to give us knowledge, to make us stronger and to maybe help someone else that we don't even realize we are helping.  Anyway, enough about that...let's talk art!

Numbers was the theme this month and I decided to do a little birthday card for one of my friends who is turning 45.  Each and every year we get is a gift, don't you think.

Thanks to everyone who played along this month!
I love each and every creation!
Remember, each thing you make, each piece of art you create, you are leaving a little
piece of yourself there.  Sharing that with the world and that's a pretty fabulous thing to do!
It not only inspires others, but it shows someone how much you care by putting the time and effort into something handmade! That's the best gift ever!

Have a nice day, go out and look up, see the wonderment in the world! It's there, we just have to open our eyes to it and be receptive to it.  We all face hard times, tragedies and mountains to climb, but if we stop even in the midst and look up or look around, there is so much wonderment in our world!
Until the next time....signing off for now, Yvonne.

March Artistic Adventure - Numbers!

Happy March everyone!  Our dear Yvonne Blair has chosen the theme "Numbers" for this month's Creative Adventure!  After giving this one a lot of thought, I decided to create a canvas using a specific number, "24" , which represents the hours in each day.

The idea is to challenge each one of us to really think about what we will do with the 24 hours in a day given to us (besides sleep of course!)  How will you use them?  For more information regarding the creation of this piece, I hope you will visit my blog here for a step by step tutorial.

In the meantime, we can't wait  to see what you create for this theme!  Head on over to Yvonne's introductory post at www.creativecarteblanche.com and use the InLinkz button at the bottom of the post to upload your creation!

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Creative Carte Blanche for our March adventure!  This month, Yvonne Blair is taking us into the world of "NUMBERS".  What a wide open theme for your creative interpretation!

I decided to create a fun little canvas sharing some new techniques ... at least new for me ... with a numbers theme.  When I think about numbers, I also think about time and sometimes I can almost literally hear a "life clock" tick, tick, ticking away the hours, minutes and seconds of every day.  That is why I came up with the sentiment that I did and tied it to this canvas.

I hope you will join me on my blog HERE for a complete pictorial tutorial.  Then join us and share your wonderful art with all of us!

Wrapping Up the Love!

Hi Folks, thanks ever so muchly for your fabby entries to this months challenge.  Sorry I haven't had a chance to visit you all, it has been a mega busy time but I shall be on my way soon!   As February draws to a close, I am here with my offering for the Love themed arty adventure.

I made a small 4" square canvas.. using a selection of Washi Tapes to cover it, adding smidges of ink and paint and then assembling a floral decoration that was splattered with black ink spray to grunge it up a smidge.   A few metal embellies to decorate and that was my canvas nicely finished.

Huge thank you to Anne Redfern who joined us on our Carte Blanche journey this month... if you haven't seen her most delightful creation, please do scroll down and have a gander.

Thanks for joining in folks and... as it is very nearly March, Happy Spring!

Guest Artist - Anne Redfern - Love Heart

HI folks!  Today I am so pleased to be introducing you to our very special guest, Anne Redfern... Here's her gorgeous art and a few words she had to say about it:

"I could not have been more thrilled when Hels asked me to be a Guest Artist at Creative Carte Blanche!  I have admired the whole Design Team for many years and I love the adventure they are taking us on at CCB.  I actually have Hels to thank, along with another dear friend, Kath Stewart, for getting me involved in crafting/blogging about 8 years ago, both ladies remain a great inspiration to me.  I am fortunate enough to be part of some amazing Design Teams and to have been published in a couple of books and magazines, it is like living the dream!"

"Like Hels, I am based in the UK and live in a beautiful village in the north of England.  I love all forms of crafting from Clean & Simple to Vintage and Grungy.  Having taken a few classes with Hels, I particularly like her paper blocking technique and I have used that technique on my grungy mixed media card today.  You can see more of the detail over on my blog, if you would like to visit!"

WOW! Anne has made a most beautiful creation hasn't she?  Huge thanks to Anne and please do pop on over to visit her blog to leave her some love.
